JOY Christmas Card with a Handmade Poinsettia
Sometimes a simple design makes the biggest impact. This JOY Christmas card relies on texture, dimension, and classic holiday colors instead of lots of embellishments. And the oversized letters and layered poinsettia become the focal point, creating an elegant card that's easy to personalize.
The design begins with a white card base layered with Secret Sea cardstock. I added another layer of Basic
White embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. The subtle plaid texture adds interest without competing with the main elements.
The large JOY letters were die cut from the snowflake pattern in the A Stitched Christmas Designer Series Paper collection. Because the white snowflakes are on a Secret Sea background, everything ties together beautifully while keeping the design crisp and clean.
Using Foam Adhesive Sheets behind each letter allowed them to sit evenly across the embossed background. That little bit of lift makes the sentiment stand out even more.
A Dimensional Poinsettia Finishes the Design
The poinsettia is the real star of the card. It was created with the Pretty Poinsettia Bundle, which includes impression dies that add realistic texture after die cutting. Running the pieces through a second time with the Impressions Plate gives each petal and leaf beautiful detail.
I layered the flower using Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, and Crushed Curry cardstock before attaching everything with Stampin' Dimensionals. The result is a poinsettia with lots of depth that complements the bold JOY sentiment perfectly.
