Create a Paper Pieced Christmas Tree Card with Designer Paper
This paper pieced Christmas tree card is yet another project created with the Stitched Stocking Bundle and A Stitched Season Designer Paper. And I have to laugh. I can't even count how many cards I've made with these products. The funny part? Almost none of them feature a stocking! I absolutely love this bundle, especially the designer paper. I think this may be my favorite card yet.
The rich Secret Sea background lets the focal point shine, while the pieced Christmas tree and crisp white embossing create a clean, elegant design that's easy to recreate.
A Simple Design with Big Impact
I started by die cutting the row of small trees near the bottom of a Secret Sea panel. Instead of leaving the openings empty, I adhered a narrow strip of Garden Green Cardstock behind them. It's a simple touch that adds color and subtle dimension without competing with the focal image.
For the focal piece I die cut the stitched tree square from Garden Green Cardstock. Then I carefully hand-cut one of the larger Christmas trees from the designer paper and adhered in place.
To frame the focal point I cut a slightly larger white square with the versatile, always handy Stylish Shapes Dies. The white border helps the focal image pop against the dark background and ties in with the white framing of the card base.
Before assembling the card I placed the focal panel on the card front to determine the best location for the greeting. I heat embossed the sentiment in white, then adhered the layered focal panel once the embossing had cooled.
The completed card front was mounted onto a Basic White card base, giving the design a crisp, finished border.
One Bundle, So Many Possibilities
One of the reasons I've enjoyed the Stitched Stocking Bundle so much is its versatility. Even though it's called a stocking bundle, I've found myself using the dies and designer paper in all kinds of unexpected ways.

Sometimes the simplest designs become our favorites, and I think that's exactly what happened with this one.
