Don't trash those paper scraps! Instead, let's turn them into something beautiful and functional.
As crafting enthusiasts, we all know the frustration of leftover paper scraps. Whether it's from a previous project or the result of trimming larger sheets, these scraps can quickly accumulate and clutter up your workspace. However, before you toss them out consider repurposing them.
How to Make a Faux Polaroid Card
For this card idea I took a scrap piece of cardstock I had previously cut a rectangle from. It reminded me of a Polaroid frame, so I decided to go with it. Of course, if you were making this handmade card from scratch you might want to use a different color for the frame. 🙂
Now you compile your Polaroid picture and decorate the frame.
What I used to create this Polaroid card:
- Playing in the Rain Stamp Set
- Playing in the Rain Dies
- Stitched Rectangle Dies
- Rain or Shine Specialty 12″ x 12″ Designer Paper
- Loose Daisy Embellishments
Step 1: I selected my photo background. I thought the field of flowers pattern from the Rain or Shine paper could serve as a ready-made scenic backdrop for these adorable animals. Cut it so that it fits behind your frame, but don't glue to close to the bottom edge of the opening so you can tuck in the bottom of the critters legs.
Step 2: I used the dies to cut out a couple of the cute animals to feature in my “photo.” Cutting them from one of the paper patterns was a lot quicker than stamping, coloring them, and cutting them out, but you could certainly do that if you don't have or don't want to use the dies.
Step 3: Arrange the die-cut shapes into your frame, creating your desired composition. Once you're happy with the layout, adhere the shapes onto the paper using adhesive.
Step 4: I stamped the card sentiment on a scrap strip of white cardstock and then cut it out with a small rectangle die.
Step 5: Glue the sentiment to the center of the bottom of the frame, and attach some of the Loose Daisy Embellishments in the corner. These are so sweet and adds an extra touch of whimsy and dimension to the card.
Step 6: Finally, I selected one of the rain paper patterns for the backdrop of the frame.
And there you have it! A beautiful and personalized faux Polaroid card made from your leftover paper scraps. These cards can be used for a variety of occasions, such as birthdays, thank you notes, or even as part of a scrapbook layout.
Don't trash those paper scraps and let them go to waste. With a little creativity and some basic crafting supplies, you can turn them into something truly special. And who knows, this faux Polaroid card might just become your new go-to craft project.
