Sweetly Sentimental Birthday Card with Pink Hot Foil
This Sweetly Sentimental Birthday Card was the perfect excuse to keep experimenting with Stampin' Up!'s new Hot Foil System. I'd never worked with hot foil before, but I have to admit it's a lot of fun! I paired shiny pink foil against rich Night of Navy cardstock for an elegant birthday card that really sparkles.
One of my favorite discoveries has been the Luxe Alphabet & Numbers Hot Foil Dies, but this project highlights just how versatile the Sweetly Sentimental Bundle can be. I especially love that you can foil and die cut several greetings at once. It makes it easy to build a collection of sentiments for future cards.
Building the Floral Design
The floral images are simple to stamp using a two-step design. I used Strawberry Slush ink for the flowers because it closely matched the pink foil. I stamped off once before stamping the large flower for a softer bloom, then stamped the smaller flowers at full strength. Granny Apple Green ink gave the leaves a fresh pop of color.
After stamping I fussy cut the entire floral arrangement and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals. Since it was such a large image it was really easy to do. And the added depth makes the flowers stand out beautifully against the clean background.
To frame the design I stamped the decorative background images in opposite corners using Night of Navy ink. The remaining corners still felt like they needed a little something, so I created subtle splatter by tapping a Dark Night of Navy Stampin' Blend against the edge of a clear block. It adds just enough texture without distracting from the focal image.
The layered panel sits on a slightly larger piece of Night of Navy cardstock, followed by a Basic White mat and a Night of Navy card base. The foiled sentiment is raised using a strip cut from a Foam Adhesive Sheet. It's just enough dimension to complement the floral focal point.
