Card Sketch for Christmas Card Sunday

Card Sketch For Christmas Card Sunday - www.Stamp4Joy.com

Here's a little twist on an oldie but a goodie.  I thought we could try a card sketch for Christmas Card Sunday.

My Christmas card sketch began by deciding what designer paper I wanted to use.  I ended up using a retired collection, Peaceful Place.

The beautiful thing about a card template is it's just a jumping off point, you don't have to copy it exactly.  As you can see from the sketch below, I changed a number of things.  Instead of using the combination of four small squares I decided to use a circle.  And I changed the straight strip of cardstock underneath to a grouping of trees, which I punched out using the Evergreen Border Punch.  Even the greeting is different, using a rectangle instead of an oval.

The card greeting stamp came from the Evergreen Elegance set.  It's retired now, but you can find a gently used set on my Retired Rubber Stamps page.  Here's another spectacular yet simple holiday card idea using this set.

The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark ink and then embossed with Silver Emboss Powder.

A card sketch is always a great way to get your creative juices flowing, but remember to work with what you have and let your own artistic vision shine through.
