Use your designer paper to come up with some easy Christmas card designs.
I was recently chatting with a member of my mailing list about having so much patterned paper and not knowing what to do with it all. Why not cut a couple of coordinating designs and put them on a card front? So easy!
The paper designs came from the Celebrate Everything paper pack. I just pulled a couple of patterns I thought would look good together.
The left panel was cut at about 1-1/2″ and the right panel at about 2-3/8″ before mounting on a black piece of cardstock. You can adjust to whatever dimensions you think looks best.
I decided to run a strip of black cardstock over where
the two patterns come together because I thought it looked better than just having them meet up. The black strip was from my stash of scraps. Using what I already had instead of trimming a piece to a particular size, that helps to use up my scraps. Love that! I did have to cut a very small piece off the edge because it was just a bit too long.
Snowman Magic and Dies
I pulled the greeting from Snowman Magic, a whimsical set full of things to decorate your snowman with! Check it out in the picture on the right. Instead of stamping it on a square piece of cardstock or using a die to cut it out — which you certainly could do — I just trimmed around the letters with my Paper Snips.
You can also grab the coordinating Snowman Dies, too, to make things easier to cut out. Looking at that photo of the dies, how have I not been using that frame?!? I think I forgot about it. You'll be seeing it soon on a project, I'm sure! 🙂
The last touch was to add some Iridescent Pearls across the card front on the ornaments and the snowflake in the greeting. Perfect!
Don't hesitate to use your designer paper. People come up with any number of reasons not to. I can relate because I've used some of these excuses myself: I don't know how to us it; it's too pretty; I
might mess it up and waste it; I don't know where to start. Remember, it's just paper! I challenge you, grab a couple sheets of that pretty paper tonight and make at least one card with it!
Here's another simple Christmas card idea using the same sentiment from this stamp set.
