I wanted to make a Polaroid-style greeting card with my Hippest Hippos stamps and Hippo Dies. Are these not the cutest critters? They were stamped and die cut from Gray Granite cardstock and colored in or shaded with some Stampin' Blends.
Please Note: This stamp set and dies are retired, but you can pick up a gently used one on my Retired Rubber Stamps page.
Since it's been so hot I thought they deserved to go swimming, so I created water with the cute die that's included. As long as your cardstock is a little larger than the die it won't cut all the way across. You can use it either way, though.
You might recognize some of the new 2022-2024 In Colors here. I used Tahitian Tide for the water, Parakeet Party for the sunglasses, Sweet Sorbet for
the flower and hearts, and Orchid Oasis for the snorkel gear.
Putting It All Together
After assembling the “photo” part I created the top of the Polaroid by cutting out the center photo area with the largest square die in the Stylish Shapes Dies, popping it over the top of the “photo” with Foam Adhesive Strips.
I wanted a “journaling” sentiment suitable to memorialize their day. I found this one in the Beauty of Friendship stamp set, and I think it's perfect.
I'd love to hear what you think about this Polaroid-style greeting card. Please leave a comment below.
