These little Christmas cookie thieves are at it again! This Christmas card with mice features one of my favorite scenes from the A Little Christmas Designer Series Paper — and apparently these two are willing to work pretty hard for a Christmas cookie. One has climbed right on top of the cookie jar while the other brought a ladder. You have to admire their determination!
Christmas Card with Mice and a Fussy-Cut Focal Point
The adorable scene is printed right on the A Little Christmas Designer Series Paper. I fussy cut the entire piece, including the cookie jar, cookies, bow, ladder, and both mice.
With so much personality already built into the paper I really didn't need to add much more to create a fun focal point. I attached the scene to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals to give it a little extra depth.
To help anchor the cookie jar, I glued a 1-1/4″ x 4″ strip of coordinating striped designer paper across the bottom of the embossed panel. The Cherry Cobbler stripes also help tie the background into the bow, candy cane, and greeting.
A Little Tone-on-Tone Texture
For the background I embossed a slightly smaller piece of Crumb Cake cardstock with the Stone & Vine 3D Embossing Folder, then layered it onto a Crumb Cake card base.
I love the tone-on-tone effect here. There’s plenty of texture and interest behind the mice, but the neutral color keeps the background from competing with that wonderful cookie jar scene.

For the greeting I stamped “Sending Love & Joy” from Traditional Labels in Cherry Cobbler ink on white cardstock.
I then embossed the stamped words with Clear Embossing Powder. It's a little difficult to see in the photos, but the clear embossing gives the lettering a raised, glossy finish that catches the light beautifully. It even gives off a little twinkle! It's a simple way to make a stamped greeting feel just a bit more special.
The sentiment was cut with one of the coordinating Traditional Labels Dies — now retired — and attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I think my favorite thing about this Christmas card with mice is that the designer paper does so much of the work. Instead of using it only as a background I let one of its sweet little scenes take center stage. And really, could you resist those faces?
