Sending Love Card with a Clean Floral Design
This Sending Love Card came from an unexpected discovery in my craft room. Apparently, if I put new supplies away too well they completely disappear from my memory!
While organizing recently I came across the beautiful Violet Dreams Suite Collection tucked inside a storage container. Somehow I'd never gotten around to using it, and I honestly couldn't remember buying it. Once I opened it up,
though, I knew I had to put it to work. Before long I had a growing stack of finished cards on my desk, and I'm already planning even more projects with it.
Sometimes the best inspiration comes from something that's been sitting on the shelf all along.
This design proves you don't need lots of layers or complicated techniques to create an elegant card. A limited color palette and one beautiful floral image do all the heavy lifting.
I matted both Basic White panels with Secret Sea cardstock and stamped everything in Secret Sea ink. I have to admit that Secret Sea has quickly become one of my favorite colors. It's rich, elegant, and seems to go with everything
For the focal point I isolated one of the watercolor circles from the Splash of Sparkles Designer Paper and trimmed it into a square. After stamping the Sending Love sentiment in the center, I finished the panel with three iridescent pearl jewels for just a touch of sparkle.
Why Simple Designs Work So Well
I stamped a 2-inch strip of Balmy Blue cardstock with the large violet cluster using Secret Sea ink. After matting it with a slightly larger piece of Secret Sea cardstock I mounted it behind the focal square to create a clean horizontal accent across the card front.
The floral strip frames the sentiment without competing for attention, while the dark matting ties everything together. It's a simple layout that's easy to recreate, yet elegant enough for many occasions.
I'm so glad this forgotten suite finally found its way onto my craft table. I have a feeling it's going to get plenty of use now that I've rediscovered it.
