Stitched Stocking Christmas Card | Easy Quilted Holiday Card Idea

When I first saw the suite used in this Stitched Stocking Christmas Card in the demonstrator early access, I honestly wasn't interested.  It just didn't grab my attention.

Then I started playing with it.  Now I completely understand why everyone was so excited!

It's incredibly quick to put together, and the finished result looks like you've spent more time than you actually have.  Best of all…you don't even have to know how to quilt! 😂

I actually tried quilting years ago, but I always wanted to tackle the complicated patterns before I had the skills.  Story of my life!  And don't even get me started on embroidery.  My fabric collection was impressive, though!  My wallet is much happier now that I've narrowed my hobbies down to mostly stamping these days.

Stitched Stocking Christmas Card Details

I stayed with a soft monochromatic palette of Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, and white for a warm, cozy Christmas feel.

The stocking was created by paper piecing together sections from the designer paper.  I simply looked for small printed areas that fit the overall color theme and cut those pieces out.  Then I die cut the individual stocking sections before layering everything onto a solid Pecan Pie stocking base.

I embossed the sentiment in white onto a Pecan Pie label cut with the Sweet Words & Labels Dies.  A few Antique Pearls around the label add just the right amount of elegance without taking away from the quilted look.

I added several Old Olive holly leaves tucked onto the stocking cuff for a little touch of Christmas color.

One of my favorite details is the button.

The Mini Christmas Buttons have beautiful sparkly edges, but I wanted one that coordinated a little more with my neutral color palette.  I simply colored one using Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.  After drying I used the pokey end of my Take Your Pick Tool to poke through the button holes before threading Linen Thread through.  It was a simple little trick that worked perfectly.

Finishing the Card

I cut the Crumb Cake layer using the second-largest retired Stitched Rectangle Die.  Behind that, I stamped a Very Vanilla layer with the snowflake image in Crumb Cake around the edges before mounting everything onto the Pecan Pie card base.

It's a simple design with lots of texture, soft layers, and cozy holiday charm.  Sometimes staying within one color family creates an elegant look that lets all those little details really shine.

If you've been overlooking this suite like I originally did, I'd encourage you to give it another look.  You may find yourself changing your mind, too!

If you're planning your holiday crafting early I think you'll enjoy the A Stitched Season Suite, a cozy, stitched-inspired collection perfect for getting a head start on your Christmas cards.

And while you're waiting for your new supplies, why not make some unique Christmas cards with your paper scraps?
