Do you love to make your own greeting cards, but you're pinching your pennies these days? Making clean and simple cards with just one layer will cut the cost of your card making projects and might even save on postage, too! And believe it or not, you can create custom greeting cards for less than you'd pay for most cards at the store!
I created this card as one of the swaps for my team meeting yesterday. It was so much fun to get together and stamp, share ideas, and eat good food! I will be sharing their beautiful paper craft projects over the next few weeks. I think you'll agree, all the members of my team are very talented!
This simple birthday card gives the illusion of depth and dimension by using a very simple technique.
How to do the Masking Technique:
- Cut a piece of copy paper the same size as the front of your card, and cut your an oval using one of the framelit dies from the Ovals Collection; apply a few small drops of Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the back of your mask and let dry until tacky;
- On a scratch piece of copy paper, stamp your flower stamp (from Bloom With Hope) ; trim around the flower and stem to the point where you believe it will overlap with the oval and a little more; apply a few small drops of Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the back of the mask and let dry until tacky;
- Stamp your flower stamp on the front of your card using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; color in using your Blendabilities or Stampin' Write Markers;
- Lay down your oval mask on the front of your card, being sure to line up the sides;
- Lay down your flower mask to cover the stamped image on your card;
- Ink up your Hardwood Stamp using your choice of “wood” color ink; in this birthday card I used Crumb Cake;
- Stamp your Hardwood stamp over the masked card; carefully lift up the masks. You can save these to use over and over if you want.
- Stamp the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black.
You're done! If you sit down and do them in assembly line fashion you can have a number of clean and simple cards ready to go, and no one will even suspect you're pinching your pennies at the same time!
