I need a unique handmade birthday card, so I thought I'd make a couple using this fun technique. You can never have too many handmade masculine cards on hand, right? I came up with this card idea with my uncle's birthday in mind, but I think a lot of women might like these cards, too.
The floating technique is so much fun, and pretty easy to do, too. And it makes the coolest greeting cards! The one shown in the picture on the left is the first one I made. I'll feature the second one later, so stay tuned!
I combined the Geared Up Garage stamp set with the coordinating Garage Gears Dies here. Copper Foil Sheets and Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder really makes this handmade card design shine!
I stamped the car in Staz-On ink because other inks would smear on the Copper Foil. Staz-On ink is not recommended for our new cling stamps. If you're going to use it just be aware that it can eat away at your labels, so you'll want to be careful.
I added a few of the circles punched out of the gears to fill in some blank spaces on the card front. Attaching them with some Glue Dots was easy.
I will admit, I spent a little bit of time applying all those Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to the backs of the different gears. Sometimes I had to cut the dimensionals in half or cut off small pieces along the edges because the gears were so thin. But I think it was worth the extra time it took, don't you?
Tune in later when I'll show the second card I created from my efforts. I think you'll really like it!
