How to Make a Birthday Card

How to Make a Birthday Card - blog.Stamp4Joy.comThe secret of how to make a birthday card is to start with images that work well together.  Stampin' Up! has taken the guess work out of that by creating sets with images that coordinate with each other.  That's one of the main reasons I fell in love with Stampin' Up! to begin with all those years ago.  Plus, many of the stamp sets are designed in similar styles to make mixing and matching easy, too.

Often when I start to make a card I'll have a theme in mind, as in do I need to create birthday cards, a retirement card, etc.

August is one of the busier months for me with birthdays, so I knew I needed to come up with a few  homemade birthday card ideas.  This is a card I made for one of my friends who has a birthday later this month.  The main image/greeting came out of the From the Heart stamp set.

For this card I next decided on what color scheme I wanted to use, settling on Pink Pirouette and Soft Suede with a Very Vanilla Base.  Then I determined what other stamps I wanted to use.  I think Kinda Eclectic is the perfect companion set because it works so well when creating collages.  What do you think?
