With the end of the school year fast approaching you might be looking for some ideas to make homemade grad cards. Here’s a card design you might like.
I decided to replicate a card that I made many, many years ago using new Stampin’ Up! products. I really like how it turned out. What do you think? You can see my original card idea below.
The stamps I used for this card design came from Sailing Home. I used the coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies to cut out the boat, the compass, and the card sentiment. I also used the rope die to create the rope wrapped around the hinges. (Note: These dies are retiring soon!)
The Timber 3D Embossing Folder was used to create the wood planks. First I applied Early Espresso ink to the inside of the folder before embossing the cardstock to highlight the wood grain and give it a more realistic look. After embossing I cut it into 3/4″ strips, sponged the edges, and then attached them evenly spaced over an Early Espresso layer.
Just about everything on this card was generously sponged with Early Espresso ink. This makes it look old and weathered. Finally, I added some gold Metallic Pearls. I colored with some Stampin' Blends to give them a “patina.”
