This Christmas Mouse Card is the first little sneak peek I'm sharing of something adorable coming in September — the new A Little Christmas Suite (168427)!
And when I say adorable, I mean mice decorating Christmas trees, baking cookies, and generally getting into all kinds of holiday fun. How could I resist?
Christmas Mouse Card Sneak Peek
The A Little Christmas Suite includes stamps, dies, designer paper, coordinating twine, and some very cute Christmas Epoxy Shapes, all centered around a playful little family of mice. For this card, though, I let the designer paper do most of the work.
The design is based on the card sketch that I'll be sharing in this Tuesday's newsletter. I love using sketches when I want to sit down and create without spending half my crafting time trying to decide where everything should go. This one is cute, simple, and easy to adapt to whatever supplies you have on hand.
I started with one of the playful patterns from the A Little Christmas Designer Series Paper (168414) and layered it onto a slightly larger piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
Then I chose a couple of the little mouse scenes from another paper. Aren't those mice cute? They're definitely getting into the holiday spirit!
I cut the larger scene with a circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies and layered it onto a larger Cherry Cobbler circle from the same set. For the smaller mouse scene I used another Stylish Shapes circle along with the smaller Cherry Cobbler circle from the Spotlight on Nature Dies.
A Little Detail Makes a Big Difference
For the greeting I stamped “Merry Christmas” in Cherry Cobbler and used my scissors to cut the little flag at the right end. No special die needed!
And did you notice the tiny candy cane tucked onto the left side of the greeting? That's one of the Christmas Epoxy Shapes from the suite. It's such a small addition, but it adds one more playful touch to the card.
I especially like that you don't need to use a lot of different supplies to create this design. The patterned paper provides so much color and detail that a few circle dies, a greeting, and one tiny embellishment are really all it needs.
More A Little Christmas to Come
This Christmas Mouse Card is just a first peek at the A Little Christmas Suite before it arrives in September. I already have a feeling those little mice are going to be finding their way onto quite a few of my Christmas projects this year!
And if you'd like to try this layout with supplies you already have, keep an eye out for Tuesday's newsletter. I'll be sharing the card sketch that inspired today's design, so you can give it your own spin.
