Cutest Crew Puppy Card Inspired by a Sketch

A Cheerful Puppy Card to Brighten Someone's Day

This Cutest Crew Puppy card is one of those projects that's almost guaranteed to make someone smile.  Between the playful puppies, bright colors, and sweet little hearts, it's the kind of card that feels happy before you even read the sentiment.

I started with the Beautiful Ordinary Life Suite Collection because I couldn't resist the designer paper patterns.  The colorful striped design immediately

caught my eye, and I knew I wanted it to become a focal point on the card.  I also used one of the softer multicolor patterns to create the backgrounds for the puppies and the sentiment label.

The shaped pieces were cut using dies from the Extraordinary Life Dies collection.  Those soft watercolor-style colors created the perfect backdrop for the playful puppy images without competing for attention.

The adorable dogs come from the Cutest Crew Bundle.  After stamping and coloring each puppy, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  Then I attached them with Mini Dimensionals for added depth.  I love how the soft colors behind them help keep the focus on their sweet personalities.

To tie everything together I backed the tiny heart openings with scraps of Flirty Flamingo cardstock that coordinate with the card base.  I repeated that same detail behind the diagonal openings on the sentiment label for a little extra pop of color.  The sentiment was then raised using Foam Adhesive Sheets to create even more dimension.

Inspired by This Week's Sketch Challenge

One of my favorite ways to spark creativity is by using a sketch challenge.  This card was inspired by the current one at Freshly Made Sketches.  The sketch provided the basic framework while still leaving plenty of room to personalize the design.

You'll notice how the three puppy focal points follow the placement of the sketch elements, while the striped designer paper and decorative border create visual interest across the top of the card.  If you'd like to compare the finished project to the original inspiration, be sure to check out the sketch image included on the right.

The decorative border beneath the striped paper was created using one of the long border dies from the Bordered in Beauty Dies.  Die cut from Flirty Flamingo cardstock, it provides a fun transition between the colorful striped paper and the clean white background.

Small Details Make a Big Difference

Sometimes it's the little touches that bring a card to life.  The popped-up puppies, layered hearts, dimensional sentiment, and decorative border all work together to add texture and interest while keeping the overall design clean and cheerful.

Whether you're creating a birthday card, thinking-of-you card, or simply sending a smile through the mail, this Cutest Crew Puppy card is a fun reminder that a few bright colors and a couple of adorable puppies can make someone's day a little happier.

How do you think I did with the sketch challenge?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!
