Adventure Bound Card

Adventure Bound - blog.Stamp4Joy.comOkay.  Not to toot my own horn, but seriously, how CUTE is this Adventure Bound card?!?  I just love how it came out.

I had so much fun creating the look of an old worn and weathered wooden boat with paper punch art, complete with a vintage-looking porthole.  Wouldn't this make a great graduation card, retirement card, or even to say “Bon Voyage”?

I started with the Hardwood background stamp (of course), stamped in Early Espresso on Crumb Cake card stock.  I stamped the ship from The Open Sea and then colored in the image using my Blendabilities (Note:  We now have Stampin' Blends).  The Rose compass is from the same set and was stamped with Lost Lagoon ink, and the greeting came from Project Life Remember This.  I colored in the “bound” of the greeting with the middle color from the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities markers.

The door hinges were made using the Modern Label punch, which I cut in two and then scored to fold around the card front.   Then I wrapped them with linen thread in an “X” to give the illusion of rope.

The porthole was created using various sizes of circles from the Circles Collection Framelits.  Of course, all the “metal” was aged by sponging with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso ink.  I topped it off by adding a few “bolts” of Neutrals Candy Dots.

How did I do?

  1. Very nice. Love the porthole. Would be great for someone going away to college or going on a cruise, etc.

    1. I agree, Nan. I’m thinking of saving it for my niece’s graduation next year. Of course, I make so many cards, who knows what I’ll come up with between then and now?

  2. LOVE this card, your creativity is amazing. So happy I found your site, keep the inspiration coming.

  3. This card is beautiful. I have seen and used The Open Sea set in many ways, but never thought or seen it used this way.
